HOW THE
BUSINESS BEGAN:
Originally named "G. PAUL BISHOP'S PORTRAITURE," Paul
Bishop, Sr., and his wife Lu, established the business, in 1947,
in their little brick home/studio in Berkeley, CA. In 1983, Paul
Bishop, Jr. started his business, CUSTOM BLACK AND WHITE
PRINTING, at the same location. In 1998, after the passing
of Paul Bishop, Sr., Paul Bishop Jr. took over ownership of
G. PAUL BISHOP'S PORTRAITURE, and slightly changed the name
to G. PAUL BISHOP - PORTRAITURE. After the passing of
business partner Lu Bishop, in 2013, the Durant studio property
was sold. The name of the business was changed to G. PAUL
BISHOP - PORTRAITS and down sized to a home office setup.
Instead of taking portraits, Bishop operates an online digital
photo image service. Digital images for publishing image license
release, as well, photographic prints for art collectors. There
is a large collection of famous people including, poets,
scientists, artist, Nobel laureates and other subjects of
notoriety, scanning almost 70 years, as well, unique abstracts
and landscapes.
In 2016, along with his G. PAUL BISHOP - PORTRAITS
business, Paul Bishop, Jr. re-established the former business,
G. PAUL BISHOP PORTRAITURE (CBWP) and is now
including taking picture on locations, using the digital, medium
format camera and portable strobe as his medium. For now,
working primarily in parts of the East Bay area.
